Our Mission & Values

The mission of South Country Health Alliance is to provide a consumer focused, community based health care system. The Joint Powers Board, administrative personnel, and health care providers are committed to delivering efficient and effective health care in a manner that continuously improves the quality of health care services and the health status of enrollees. This is achieved through the creation of an effective, integrated service delivery system using local county-based health and human service resources. To accomplish this, South Country implements a care coordination model that incorporates both medical and social services, and enables South Country’s enrollees to receive services in a comprehensive and cohesive manner.

Preventing Health Care Fraud and Abuse

Health care fraud and abuse is a serious concern for South Country Health Alliance and the entire health care industry. Part of SCHA’s mission is to prevent, detect, investigate, and report health care fraud and abuse. SCHA works with members and providers to address issues and concerns about fraud and abuse.

Common examples of fraud include (1) billing for services that were never provided, (2) billing for services more expensive than those that were actually provided, (3) performing medically unnecessary services solely to receive insurance payments, (4) misrepresenting non-covered treatments as medically necessary covered treatments to receive payment, (5) altering claims or (6) adding someone who is not eligible to insurance coverage or lending an ID card to family or friends. For more information, click here to see our fraud and abuse policy (.pdf).
